A walk through the beautiful beech woods above Predmeja to Kucelj on the edge of a limestone escarpment that overlooks the Vipava Valley.

Start/Finish – Predmeja

Distance – 9.8km/6miles

Height gain – approx 520m

Time – 3h16min

Grade – Moderate but with a steep initial climb of 320m. Mainly on good paths and tracks

Public transport – Although there is a bus service to Predmeja from Col it is not practical for walkers.

Nearest Town/Village – Adjovščina, in the Vipava Valley has hotels, apartments and rooms. There is also a campsite. More information available from the Adjovščina Tourist Information Centre. Idrija – only one hotel is listed for Idrija, the 5* Kendov Manor Hotel, in nearby Spodnja Idrija, about 5km away. There are some apartments, rooms and overnight accommodation available, as well as a Youth Hostel in Idrija. There is no nearby camping site. Both towns have a good range of shops.

26. Slap Pršjak

Walk 26 – a short walk to the waterfall, Slap Pršjak, from a Walking Guide to Slovenia.

A short walk to a hidden gem! A visit to this beautiful waterfall, Slap Pršjak, is an ideal leg-stretcher when you are touring.

Start/Finish – at the bridge over the River Pršjak, about 5km from Dolenja Trebuša

Distance – 2.5km/1.6miles

Height gain – approx 150m

Time – 1h05min

Grade – easy, but on narrow paths sometimes above steep drops

Nearest Towns – Accommodation in Idrija and Cerkno. Only one hotel is listed for Idrija, the 5* Kendov Manor Hotel, in nearby Spodnja Idrija, about 5km away. In Cerkno there is the 3* Cerkno Hotel. There are some apartments, rooms and overnight accommodation available in both towns, as well as a Youth Hostel in Idrija. There is no nearby camping site. Tolmin has at least one hotel, the 3* Hotel Krn, guest houses, apartments, rooms and one small but very pleasant campsite, Kamp Vili, at Volarje. Tolmin has a good range of shops.

25. Idrija to Divje Jezero

Walk 25 – a short walk from Idrija to Divje Jezero (or Wild Lake), from a Walking Guide to Slovenia.

An easy stroll to Divje Jezero, a small pool fed by an underground karst spring. This walk is worth doing in bad weather, because in heavy rain, the spring gushes water up into the pool and the surface appears as though it is boiling.

Height gain – minimal

Time – 1h26min

Grade – easy; on good paths throughout
