Walk 31 – a walk through Rakov Škocjan, from a Walking Guide to Slovenia.

This short walk is packed full of interest! Explore collapsed caves, walk over natural rock bridges, peer down into underground rivers and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the woods and meadows along the Rak river.

Height gain - minimal

Time – 1h26min

Grade – easy, but note that after heavy rain parts of the walk may be inaccessible due to flooding.

Public transport – There is no public transport to Rakov Škocjan. You may be able to get a taxi from either Postojna or Cerknica. The nearest train station is at Rakek.

The nearest campsite is the Pivka Jama Camp located about 4km north-west of the town. Postojna has an excellent range of shops, and places to eat. In Cerknica there are rooms available and there is, of course, the Hotel Rakov Škocjan on the route of the walk.
