Climbing from the very centre of Kobarid this lengthy walk follows a long ridge up to the distant summit of Stol. It makes for a full day but, with fine weather, the glorious views of the Julian Alps are ample reward.
Start/Finish – Kobarid
Distance – 24km/15mile
Height gain – 1460m
Time – 7h20min
Grade – very strenuous.
Recommended map - the Julijske Alpe zahodni del (western) map published by PZS.

Public transport – Kobarid is easily reached by bus.

Nearest Town/Village – Kobarid has one hotel, apartments, guesthouses and rooms plus two camping sites within walking distance of the town centre. It also has all the necessary food shops, plus cafes and restaurants.
Bovec, to the north, has more accommodation.
