Walk 18 – through the Tolmin Gorges, from a Walking Guide to Slovenia.
Discover the secrets of the Tolminke and Zadlaščice gorges and their confluence. Then, go on to find Dante’s Cave and cross Hudičev Most, the Devil’s Bridge. All in a short walk just a few miles away from Tolmin and at the lowest point of the Triglav National Park.
Start/Finish – At the official gorge entrance (see Updates below)
Distance – 6.5km/4mile
Height gain - approx 150m
Time – 1h56min
Grade – easy; good paths and tracks, although rough in places and slippery when wet.
Recommended map(s) - are the 1:50 000 Triglavski Narodni Park or either of the Julijske Alpe (vzhodni del – eastern or zahodni del – western) maps, published by PZS.
Equipment – Walking shoes, walking sticks, torch advisable. See our clothing and walking equipment page for more recommendations.
Refreshments on route – A bar at approximately the 1h30min point.

Public transport – Tolmin is easily reached by bus.

Nearest Town/Village – Tolmin has at least one hotel, apartments, guesthouses and rooms plus a camping site, Camp Vili at Volarje just a few kilometers to the west. Tolmin also has a good range of shops, plus cafes and restaurants.
