33. Virštanj vineyards

Walk 33 – a walk through the vineyards of Virštanj, from a Walking Guide to Slovenia.

A rural ramble on quiet country roads through the Virštanj vineyards. Lovely at any time of year but during the grape harvest in autumn must be best.

Start/Finish – at the Gostišče Banovina in Virštanj

Distance – 7km/4.4miles

Height gain – approx 250m

Time – 1h48min

Grade – easy; on country roads.

Updates to the 2019, 5th Edition – There are no updates.

Public transport – There is only a very limited bus service to Virštanj, which is not suitable for walkers.

Nearest Towns/Villages – Rogaška Slatina has plenty of hotels, apartments and rooms but no nearby camping site. See this website for Rogaška Slatina tourist information.
